Berg Wind and Painting in Paarl

Paarl's berg wind is among the most extreme in the Western Cape. The Berg River valley acts as a channel, concentrating the hot north-easterly wind as it descends from the Hex River Mountains. Temperatures can exceed 42 degrees with humidity below 10% on severe days. In these conditions paint skins almost instantly and will fail within one season. Never apply exterior paint during berg wind conditions - not even early morning if the forecast shows berg wind later in the day.
